Proprietor of the now legendary Lucky Spin Records shop in London, co-founder of Lucky Spin Records, DeeJay Recordings and Higher Limits, as well as creator of the intensely popular Promised Land parties which have been presented to tens of thousands of people throughout the UK and Europe: Slipmaster J. has been a driving force in the the UK Jungle and Drum + Bass scene. His influence has been largely subliminal, providing through his label, record shop, and truly massive Promised Land events, a forum for musical expression and serious booty shakin'. DJs at the Promised Land include a veritable Who's-Who of the current Electronica and Drum + Bass scene. LTJ Bukem, Fabio, Blame, Adam F., Grooverider, Peshay, and Slipmaster J. himself, all man the turntables on a regular basis. J.'s mixing skills are widely respected with even the influential Mixmag praising him as "always excellent." At last year's Promised Land party at Midem in France, the Slipmaster slipped, broke his ankle, but still managed to deliver a set described as "unrelentingly funky" by Wax magazine.
