 FACELESS
"Faceless move seamlessly between musical styles encompassing everything from mystical medieval chants to gently pacifying melodies."--EP magazine
Norwich, England is historically, a relatively passive environment, occasionally demolished by happenstance and general bad luck. In 1349, the black plague killed nearly half the town's population and during World War Two the town faced nearly 40 bombing raids.
30,000 homes and 100 factories were destroyed. The town was selected for several of the infamous Baedeker raids wherein the primary targets were historic buildings and churches. 2000 years of history and culture were largely reduced to rubble followed by eventual rebuilding in the worldwide industrial boom of the next decade.
As art imitates life, Faceless are a creation of post-war Britain, taking the wreckage of a grand and illustrious culture and making something kinda funky out of it.
Faceless are Thomas Albrighton (keyboards) and Alistair Cormack (more keyboards). They are frankly, a little mysterious. They communicate largely by fax (we've never actually met them and only spoken by phone once) and it's rumored that one of them is some sort of British royalty.
What we do know is that the two kick out a relentlessly funky, ambient dub, drum + bass, trip-hop fusion that's mellow without being boring and psychedelic without being dippy. A refreshing head trip for the armchair enthusiast with a little groove left over for the dance floor...if you're so inclined.
